The Ex

The Ex has defied categorization ever since they started playing in 1979. Born out of the punk explosion, when anything and everything was possible, the band have still managed to retain both curiosity and passion for their music. Using guitars, bass, drums and voice as their starting point The Ex have continued to musically explore undiscovered areas right up to the present day: the early 1980s saw collaborations with jazz musicians and an Iraqi-Kurdish band. In the 90s the group found a myriad of partners from varied musical and non-musical backgrounds including Kamagurka, Tom Cora, Sonic Youth, Han Bennink, Jan Mulder, Shellac and Wolter Wierbos. In 2002 The Ex set up a lively musical exchange with Ethiopia, which eventually led to two CD recordings and hundreds of concerts with the legendary saxophonist Getatchew Mekuria.

Selvhenter

Selvhenter is quickly becoming one of the most exciting new bands in Europe with a unique sound that combines the energy of rock with free improvisation and noise. They also take inspiration from percussion music of Africa and Southeast Asia, and modern minimalist composition. In their music, the two drummers create strong polyrhythmic patterns while the horns and violin develop simple patterns of melody. In addition, both saxophone, trombone and violin often use effect pedals to distort and manipulate their sounds. The result is beautiful, aggressive and good for dancing. Selvhenter's live concerts are always curious, focused and full of energy. Selvhenter are part of the art collective eget værelse and have already been active for a number of years, sharing bills with influential outfits like the Swedish-Norwegian trio The Thing and Japanese drummer Yasuhiro Yoshigaki’s Orquesta Libre. In December 2014 Selvhenter released their long-expected new album "Motions of Large Bodies".
